An Italian couple who had lived together for 60 long years, died just 2 hours apart because of coronavirus.
86 years old Luigi Carrara, and 82 years old Severa Belotti, spent their life together with the love that lasted for a long 60 years. They had spent their last days inside their home in Albino, in the province of Bergamo in Northern Italy.
Their heartbroken son Luca Carrara, said his parents were living in lockdown inside their house. They suffered from a high fever of 39 degrees Celsius (102.2 Fahrenheit). He said that they had no medical assistance and died with the fever.
Luca is left with a broken heart. He told media that his father Luigi, who worked as a bricklayer and had taken his retirement, was taken to the Bergamo hospital on Saturday. His mother Severa was then taken to the same hospital on Sunday.
They were together for the entire life and then they died together. One closed its eyes permanently at 9.15 am and the other one bid goodbye to the world 11 am.
Luca, who talked to the media when he was extremely angry said he could not even go and hug his parents before they died.
He said “They died alone. I could not even go to them and say my one last goodbye. This is how the coronavirus works. It makes people suffer alone and then die alone too.
I wanted to hug them, wanted to tell them it was going to be alright. They needed the comfort of being around their loved ones, but we could not do it.”
His parents were trapped in the house for 8 long days. He said that it happened because there was no doctor available in town for them.
They tried calling the emergency number 112 for help but no help came their way and the old couple got even more sick inside their house.
Luca said that he is not blaming emergency services but only thanks them for taking his parents to the hospital.
