A Chinese husband and wife, who were in a critical condition, have beaten Covid-19 together after battling coronavirus for almost three weeks.
98-year-old Han Tianqi and his 85-year-old wife were rushed to The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, on February 24 following about a week after they contracted the killer bug and got admitted to another hospital.
Since the couple was in a critical condition, the specialists put them in Intensive Care Units where they continued to battle the disease.
“Grandpa sounded very weak. It took him a very long time to recognize my voice when we were on the phone,” Han Shijun, the seniors’ granddaughter, told the media prior to the couple’s recovery.
Following 18 days after the husband and wife fell ill, the customized treatment proved to be useful and the couple has successfully recovered from the virus, testing negative for coronavirus twice since then.
Previously, a centenarian has taken over the title of the oldest Chinese to recover from deadly Covid-19 after recovering from the killer bug in less than a week.
103-year-old Wuhan-based Zhang Guangfen, who “did not have many underlying health conditions,” recovered from coronavirus in just under a week.
According to the reports, the senior woman was discharged from the hospital after a 6-day treatment at Liyuan Affiliated Hospital of Tongji Medical College.
While the pensioner was in a critical state when she was admitted to the hospital, she began recovering fast thanks to round-the-clock treatment.
“The grandmother loved being complimented by the nurses. She would smile and nod every time after I told her she looked pretty,” the woman’s matron Liao Zhenhui said in an interview with Chutian Metropolis Daily.
As she added, nurses took turns to change the woman’s diapers, feed her, and provide her with nutrition therapy sessions.
