In a controversial tweet, a Chinese official has accused the United States of lack of transparency when it comes to dealing with Covid-19 and suggested that the US Army could be to blame for bringing coronavirus in Wuhan.
As it appears, China has been offended by the U.S. authorities’ comments that suggested PRC was slow to act and lacked transparency when the outbreak in Wuhan erupted.
Striking back at U.S. National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, who insisted that the world had lost two months in preparations for the outbreak due to China’s slow-acting, was Zhao Lijian, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
“When did patient zero begin in US? How many people are infected? What are the names of the hospitals?” Mr. Lijian wrote.
“It might be US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent! Make public your data! US owe us an explanation!”
Despite strong accusations, the spokesman didn’t provide any arguments or evidence that would suggest the US Army could be responsible for bringing the killer bug in Wuhan.
Previously, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang has also taken aim at the US officials and slammed the government for making “immoral and irresponsible” comments about China’s way of dealing with coronavirus.
“We wish that a few officials in the U.S. would at this time concentrate their energy on responding to the virus and promoting cooperation, and not on shifting the blame to China,” he said.
