Starting from today, customers at Asda and Tesco will only be able to buy three pieces of any item they want from food and household section per person.
The supermarket has introduced the rules to stop panic buying after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced self-isolation. That is the only way to cut down the spread of covid-19.
Both the stores said that the limit is going to be applied to both, stores and online means. The stores also said that they are replenishing the stock every single day.
While the new limit is 3 pieces per customer, toilet paper rolls and paracetamol will still be limited to two pieces per person.
The cleaning products and sanitizers in Asda stores and online outlets are limited with 2 units per customer. It also includes baby products on the same list. There is no report on how long the situations are going to be the same.
Sainsbury’s also restricts the limit to 3 pieces maximum of any household or food item per customer. The extremely popular products like soap, toilet paper, milk, etc. are limited to 2.
Morrisons has not released any rules and instructions as of now and we are looking if the store chain is going to bring out similar rules.
Asda in a statement said, that the market is under high demand right now and they are facing the same. The demand is coming both online and in stores.
The statement said “the public does not have to worry and panic shop at all. We have enough products for all of us. No one will face the scarcity if we only take the necessary amount rather than stocking up.”
The coronavirus scare has caused panic around the world and people are stocking up as many products as they can to be ready for the lockdown. Italy has already lived in a lockdown and the same is going to happen in the rest of the world soon.
