A 27-year-old woman passed away from coronavirus only days after giving birth to her first child.
The young mother from Poland became the sixth person in the country to lose the fight against covid-19 after she passed away in a Lancut hospital.
The unnamed woman had just given birth to her child and had no health problems, according to local media.
She reportedly caught the virus from her infected mother who had visited Italy, now the epicenter of the outbreak.
As of this writing, there are 749 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Poland and 8 deaths.
More than 370,000 people worldwide got infected and over 16,000 passed away. In the US, more than 43,000 tested positive for coronavirus and 545 died.
Italy, which surpassed China in number of deaths, has over 63,000 total cases and more than 6,000 deaths, while Spain has more than 35,000 cases and over 2,300 fatalities.
In China, where coronavirus outbreak started last year, over 3,100 people have died as the virus infested every continent expect Antarctica.
China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea were preparing to ease restrictions as the number of cases decreased. However, people returning from abroad are being diagnosed with coronavirus as new pockets of infection flare up.
According to reports, China had no new domestic cases but there were 34 new infections among people who returned home.
One internet user commented: “Heartbreaking – my thoughts are with the lady’s family and her baby who will grow up never knowing their mum. Stay safe everyone.”
Another wrote: “Jeez that’s a tough one. Really sad that the lady died.”
A third added: “RIP so sad for this young woman and her baby who is now an orphan. I hope the mother makes it . I also wonder how are hospitals in Poland.”
