South Korea has successfully flattened the curve of the deadly virus in the country without even shutting down its economy.
The New York Times recently published a detailed analysis of how the country did it.
The study taken out concludes that the response South Korea gave to the situation can or cannot be transferred to other countries struggling with the same including the USA.
The reports start with a comparison of South Korea’s response to other countries in the situation of the epidemic.
At the top of the stats, the medical professionals of the country were able to find 909 positive cases in one single day on the 29th of Feb. The population of 50 million people appeared to be overwhelmed with the work.
But what came as a great surprise was how the number of cases halved in just a week, then again halved in 4 days and then again the next day.
On Sunday, only 64 new cases were reported by the country. This was the lowest number of cases reported in the country in a month’s time.
The cases on the other hand in all the countries are rising high and high in thousands every single day. It has devastated the health care system of several leading countries.
While other countries are recording hundreds of deaths every single day, South Korea has not recorded more than 8 deaths because of the virus in a day.
So how did South Korea controlled over the diseases that could have turned into a crisis? The country did not shut down like China and most of the countries now. They had a different scheme.
The country took 4 measures:
1) People were intervened rapidly before the state turns into an epidemic.
2) Aggressive testing
3) Traced the contact between the infected person and others and isolation.
4) Asked for the public to help.
