A picture of an elderly man holding a ‘thank you’ sign outside the ER has gone viral after the man took to the clinic to thank health workers for saving his wife’s life.
The tear-jerking photo was taken by nurse Allison Swendsen at the Morristown Medical Center ER in New Jersey where the senior man thanked the staff using a homemade sign that read:
“Thank you all in emergency for saving my wife’s life. I love you all.”
As the man with tears in his eyes was holding the sign in his left hand, his right hand was pressed against his chest across his heart.
While it isn’t clear whether the man’s wife was hospitalized because of Covid-19 or another disease, the picture quickly went viral with people praising the man for thanking the heroes who are saving lives on a daily basis.
After Allison Swendsen showed the photo to her colleagues and her friends, the picture also ended up on Facebook where Shay Vander Vliet wrote:
“My sister-in-law, Paige Van Der Vliet, is a nurse in the emergency department at Morristown Medical Center. She sent me this picture the other day and I feel like it needs to be seen as much as possible!
“… And thank you, Paige, and ALL of the nurses and doctors, for your hard work and dedication, especially during this scary time.”
Speaking to Daily Record, nurse Paige has opened up about the pandemic and revealed it couldn’t be managed without everyone working together.
“This picture brought us all to tears. It’s amazing to see not only the ER staff but all the floors coming together during this challenging time,” she told the outlet.
