All around the globe, healthcare workers are heroes who are fighting in the frontline during the global pandemic. However, unlike superheroes from cartoons, the real heroes among us are humans like all of us. They have to take rests after handling patients for many hours and have family just like all of us.
For many workers, this meant that getting back home was as tedious as working with the patients. They practiced extreme precautions to make sure that their families remained unaffected. Thus, after getting home after working many hours, healthcare workers still needed an hour or so to relax at their homes.
A Facebook group called “Rvs 4 MDs To Fight the Corona Virus” are helping to resolve this issue. Users who have idles RVs post their RVs and address on the page. When there are healthcare workers within the vicinity, the administrators of the page match the two users.
Doctors and nurses have expressed great gratitude for this project. One user on Facebook said that he no longer worries about carrying the disease to his beloved wife and newborn daughter, and can now focus even more on fighting the spread of the disease.
As of today, more than 5,000 members have joined the Facebook group. It is gaining a lot of traction, especially considering how the group was only created last week.
It all started in Texas, where Emily Phillips asked if anyone had an idle RV that her husband could use. Dr. Jason Phillips, her husband, was working as an emergency room doctor in Dallas. Holly Haggard responded to this post and lent her RV to the Phillips.
However, these two ordinary mothers did not stop there. They knew that there were many others who could give and receive help like they just did. In just over a week, a simple Facebook page that the two women started has transformed into a bigger organization with volunteers from coast to coast.
Linked only by compassion and determination to fight off the virus, complete strangers drove for hours to help each other. It is important to note that all this is being done for free. The owners are not doing this for profit, but just from the bottom of their hearts.
As you can see, the fight against the virus is taking place in every corners of our lives. Share with us how you are contributing, and join our Facebook page to keep yourself updated on the heroes around us!
