A couple from Mississippi, who was married for over 50 years, has passed away of coronavirus just minutes apart while holding hands.
Jerry and Frances Williamson, both 72, went on a cruise ship and when they returned, they were ill.
The couple had contracted coronavirus aboard the cruise ship and were put on a ventilator.
On April 1, the couple died just six minutes apart while still holding hands.
Jerry was a Navy veteran while Frances was a retired phlebotomist. The couple has two children, Delora Demaris Williamson Ingerson and Jerry Austin Williamson II, and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
On Monday, their funeral was held at the Riemann Family Funeral home and the couple’s family paid a tribute to the loving couple.
A pastor said at the funeral service: “When we got word they work sick after their cruise, it was normal to us. But then we learned that Mrs. Frances had gone on a ventilator.”
The pastor said Jerry had called him after they put Mrs. Frances on a ventilator and he was in tears while talking to him on the phone as he was scared.
The pastor said they will be entering into the next life together after living together here for more than 50 years.
The pastor said: “I don’t think Hollywood could have written a better ending to their lives. They lived their life together and they entered into the next life together.”
Another couple, who were together for more than 60 years, died of coronavirus just hours apart.
82-year-old Severa Belotti and 86-year-old Luigi Carrara, who lived in Albino, in the northern Italian province of Bergamo, Lombardy together for more than 60 years, died just hours apart from coronavirus.
The family of the couple couldn’t even get a chance to hug them and say goodbye as they were in isolation.
