An ER ICU nurse broke down in tears in a video while telling she had a rough day at work as she has become tired of walking into rooms and finding her patients dead.
35-year-old D’neil Schmall shared a heartbreaking video online that shows her crying as she can’t cope with coronavirus outbreak.
D’neil, who is staying in a hotel in New York City, said in the heartbreaking video: “I am an ER ICU nurse currently in New York working a rapid response for COVID and, today was a very rough day, a real rough day.
She said she can’t cope with walking into rooms and finding patients dead.
D’neil said the worst part is telling their families that their relative has died and there’s no one she can talk to during this difficult time.
After a long shift, D’neil cried all the way home and her driver asked her if she was okay.
She said: “You just walk into a room, and there’s a dead body there,” she says. “I’m tired of calling families and telling them that news.”
“I feel so much sadness to my fellow nurses, sisters, and brothers, that have lost their lives taking care of people.
She said people don’t understand how stressful their job is and how they cope with such things.
She said there’s no one to talk to and she can’t even call her mother or sister because she doesn’t want them to get worried.
All she does is cry in her hotel room or bathroom to cope with grief.
D’neil urged everyone to be compassionate to each other in a difficult time like this and help people who are going through a tough time during coronavirus outbreak.
She said: “Everyone is trying hard, everyone is trying so hard. But we got so much to do. We are humans too. If you have ever felt any time would be appropriate to have compassion for each other, right now is the time.”
Later, D’neil said she posted the video to tell people how they feel and what they are going through on a daily basis.
She said: “Venting was actually cathartic for me.”
