Both East Coast and West Coast governors are galvanizing efforts to take the matter of re-opening the economy into their own hands, as they precede the expected new initiative President Donald Trump’s group of experts was set to work on.

The East Coast group is spearheaded by none other than the Governor of State of New York Andrew Cuomo, who has made sure that his group of affiliates will be based purely on data research and interdisciplinary consultation to offer “guidelines and parameters to go forward,” to the general public. Nominating the whole purpose of this communal inter0-state cooperation as “sharing” of information, he has promised consistent and constructive research and resources that will elucidate the State bureaucrats with “consistent, if not complementary” plan.
Cuomo elucidate the reason for the inter-state cooperation, citing the obvious fact that people working in NYC would cross state borders every day, due to the fact that most people have their homes separate with their workplaces in the Big Apple.
“His workforce is my workforce, my workforce is his workforce, all these decisions affect everyone and the entire region. What this virus says is all of your lines and boundaries make no sense,” Cuomo said, referring to New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, another Democrat.
“What the art form is going to be here … is doing that smartly and doing that productively, and doing that in a coordinated way, doing that in coordination with the other states that are in the area, and doing it as a cooperative effort, where we learn from each other.”
“No one has done this before,” he said. “No other state has done it before. So, it’s one step forward after research, and consultation with experts. I’m not a public health expert, but this has to be informed by experts and by data. You take one step forward. You see how it works. And then you measure the next step.”
On the West Coast, a group of Democrat governors are also plotting their own group of experts and counsels to deal with the re-opening.
California is set to announce a “bottom-up” plan on Tuesday, that will officially discuss easing the currently imposed strict quarantine measures. It is said to be focused on “targeted interventions”.
The expected brief will be aired, somewhat implicitly, hours before Trump’s own declaration of his initiative of “Opening our Country” task force, as he is more than eager to re-open the economy in what some experts and politicians label as ‘hasty’ and ‘politically motivated nonsense’. Gov. Newsom of the State of California enunciated clearly that the West Coast governors “will be driven by facts and science.”
“The virus knows no boundaries, knows no borders. You can’t build walls around it and you can’t deny basic fundamental facts,” Newsom said. “We will be driven by facts, we will be driven by evidence will be driven by science will be driven by our hub public health advisers.”
However, Trump will not have it.
“For the purpose of creating conflict and confusion, some in the Fake News Media are saying that it is the Governors decision to open up the states, not that of the President of the United States & the Federal Government. Let it be fully understood that this is incorrect,” Trump tweeted.
“When somebody’s the president of the United States, the authority is total,” he said. “And that’s the way it’s got to be.”
