Australians could be restricted from going abroad until next year with its ban on overseas travel.
Simon Birmingham, the Federal Tourism Minister, warned people by saying that they should not plan any international travel during this time of crisis.
He further added that the country does not guarantee that the citizens would be allowed to travel overseas by December this year.
In an interview, he said that unfortunately at this time people cannot plan holidays and they would not be able to take overseas trips in the near future.
However, in the coming months, travel restrictions between the states are likely to be eased, so they can make their travel plans within Australia in the coming times.
While it may still be early to plan for a holiday, it is more feasible for people to think about domestic travel instead of international trips.
As of now, the country is not there yet, but with a bit of planning and right measures, it might reach the point where people can travel within the borders.
Mr. Birmingham asked people to think about the Australian trip that they would take when all this is over.
Under the law designed to curb the spread of COVID-19, the federal government has banned its citizens from traveling abroad in all but certain important situations.
People are who entering the country will have to go through the 14-days mandatory isolation in a hotel which will be supervised by the Australian police and defense force.
Many international foreign destinations are not welcoming foreigners. For instance, in Bali, all tourist visas have been canceled. In fact, even people with residency need to self-isolate themselves for two weeks prior to arriving in the country.
