A nurse was left distraught after getting called a “disgrace” and accused of breaking coronavirus lockdown after returning from her 12-hour night shift.
As Bex Williams explained, she returned to her home in Cambridgeshire, England, following 12 hours of hard work at Peterborough Hospital only to be shamed.
After walking through her front door, the nurse saw a small note that someone had slipped through the gap beneath the door while she was gone.
While Williams initially thought the note was a ‘thank you’ letter, she was stunned after reading it and realizing she was scolded for leaving her home and called a disgrace.
“You are a disgrace and you have been reported! Stay at Home Saves Lives,” the note read.
Speaking of the note, which was presumably written by one of her neighbors, the nurse said:
“At first I thought it was a good will gesture letter after other nurses have received lovely gifts and messages on their cars and doorsteps.
“When I opened the note my heart just pounded in my throat. I just couldn’t believe how awful it was.”
Supporting the nurse was her mum, Deb Leighton, who slammed the person who wrote the letter as she posted it online to raise awareness.
As Leighton claimed, the letter only further stressed her daughter who’s already been dealing with problems at work.
“To the vile, malicious, person who posted this through my daughter’s letterbox. She has just returned from the first of three night shifts as a frontline nurse at Peterborough hospital,” the mother wrote.
“She’s a lone parent and my son has her children whilst she works as I’m classed as high risk and can’t have them at the moment. To come home to this after working. You are the disgrace.
“She’s upset and probably won’t be able to sleep today before going back to work tonight.”
As the mother went on to say, “a little fact checking would have gone a long way instead of hiding behind an anonymous note through her door.”
