Prince Harry took some time to do a personal video call with some of the families he has come to know through his patronage with WellChild.
WellChild is a charity in Britain that supports children suffering from serious illnesses. He came to know about the challenges the families are facing during coronavirus pandemic and decided to chat from his home in Los Angeles.
He spoke with mom-of-three Leanne Cooper and father-of-four Craig Hatch. WellChild nurse Rachel Gregory, who supports children who need long-term ventilation, and the charity’s CEO, Colin Dyer, also joined him on the call.
The 35-year-old told the parents: “The resilience and strength that you guys have shown is absolutely incredible and you must never ever, ever forget that.’’
He also talked about the stress the families are going through amid the crisis. The Duke continued: “Of course, there are going to be hard days. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is for you guys. Having one kid at 11 months old is tough, so to see what you guys are going through on a day to day basis, honestly, so much respect to every single one of you.”
Harry said that there are times when the things which have happened before make you feel think about it and you can’t run away from your thoughts.
The Duke added: “To be able to have so much family time – I feel guilty to have so much family time.
You’ve got to celebrate those moments where you are just on the floor rolling around in hysterics because of something that happened and then maybe half an hour later, maybe a day later, there is going to be something that you have to deal with and there is no way you can run away from it, you can’t even distract yourself in another room. But as long as you guys are looking after yourselves and each other that’s the best you can do.
”Harry is currently self-isolating with his wife Meghan and son Archie in California. The couple had relocated to L.A. before the borders between Canada and America were shut due to the coronavirus.
