One German Zoo is taking it into their own hands – literally! It has been hard for the past several months for the Neumünster Zoo in northern Germany, housing more than 700 critters within its fences who are, in turn, comprised of 100 species and over.
The head zoo director Verena Kaspari has had an interview with the German news agency Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), expressing dire concerns and also extreme survival measures when the matters come to such finalizing situations. Yes, they will be feeding their own animals to the other animals of the higher food chain, if the situation urges them to.
This is due to the suppliers being out of business or personnel, and the right connection of transporting survival supplies have been in real shortage all over Germany. As lockdowns worsen and the time requires dire measures, the more name in the listings the zoo is making over its animals will be elongated and draconian: a list of kills they will make, and in what order.
Obviously, if the zoological knowledge is to be taken into account, the polar bears will come last. There is one named Vitus, and he will probably the last one to go.
VdZ is a group which represents 56 zoos in Germany, including the above said Neumünster Zoo.
