It was a big day for a new police therapy puppy named Brody.
The 12-week-old pooch woke up a little bit too early for his swearing-in ceremony but he became so tired that he fell asleep.
In an interview with The Dodo, Officer Keith Medeiros said: “He plays really hard and he sleeps really hard. When he’s not playing, he’s sleeping, which is kind of tough because he sleeps a lot.”
Brody joined Officer Medeiros in March but it seemed timing wasn’t on their side.
The pooch’s handler said: “You want him to be exposed to as many people as possible. And I try to do that while practicing social distancing.”
It turned out that the adorable pooch just arrived on time.
“People are really stressed, especially in law enforcement,” Medeiros shared. “Just by walking in the police department with Brody, people immediately smile, they immediately get into a better place. They want to pet him, want to hug him and it’s just a really good thing.”
It also seems like Brody doesn’t even have to open his eyes to do his job.
Brody, who was very comfortable around his new colleagues, slept through his entire swearing-in ceremony.
“We put him down on the desk and he was just so comfortable that he lay down and fell asleep,” Medeiros shared.
The Bristol, R.I. Police Department shared Brody’s ceremony on Facebook where it gained more than 360K views and over 1.5 reactions.
One Facebook user commented: “Welcome Brody! Enjoy your new life working with the BPD especially with Officer Medeiros. Hope we get to see you around town.”
Another wrote: “Chief, As always great job, congratulations with the swearing in of Brody. Best of luck with the program sure it will be a success.”
A third added: “Dog chilling, roll over chill some more.”
