A 45-year-old single mother has died of coronavirus, leaving behind her 12-year-old daughter alone in the UK.
Rutendo worked as a health official and was a member of the Renew Church in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
Rutendo was originally from Zimbabwe and previously, worked for a bank in Zimbabwe.
After contracting coronavirus, Rutendo died on April 10.
Her 12-year-old daughter Chiedza Mukotsanjera has been left without family in the UK after her mother’s death.
The members of the Renew Church in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire are currently looking after Chiedza.
The church has raised £30,000 for her mother’s funeral and the church officials have also contacted Rutendo’s family in Zimbabwe to tell them that her daughter has no family in the UK.
Pastor Matthew Murray, who started a fundraiser in order to raise funds for Rutendo’s funeral and her daughter’s future, wrote: “Chiedza (who we all know as Chichi) was inseparable from her mum and is understandably very upset after being told the news late last night.”
The pastor told Chiedza is being looked after by a member of the church while they have contacted her family in Zimbabwe to ‘discuss the best possible plan.’
He added: “Whatever happens, we WILL support her. She is one of our own.”
The pastor described Rutendo as a “kind, generous and selfless” person and said the funds raised will be used for her funeral and the ‘surplus will be given to aiding Chichi’s future.’
The pastor said Rutendo was a devoted mother and her daughter was her world.
He said she was very hard working as she served in their car home ministry and helped give out gifts.
Meanwhile, a cousin of Rutendo paid a tribute to her and urged everyone to stay at home amid coronavirus crisis.
