Captain Tom Moore on his 100th birthday could be honoured with Spitfire flypast for rasing over Euro 20 million for NHS.
Aircraft restorers team from the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar plans to fly the aeroplane over the hero’s home as a gesture to celebrate his accomplishments.
Alex Monk 21, member of the Hanger said that it would be a great way to boost the morale of everyone by launching a Spitfire in the sky. It is used as the symbol of freedom, and it would be ideal for honouring the World War II hero.
The team is planning to fly Spirit of Kent, which was set up in the year 1945 and was a part of the Battle of Britain.
The plane will fly approximately 500 feet above Captain Hank’s house located in Bedfordshire Village of Marston Moretaine at the speed of 250mph. However, the aircraft team is waiting for approval from the Department of Transport.
People across the country have been joining Hank for his morning walk that has managed to raise over Euro 20 million.
His actions were lauded by the Prime Minister of UK Boris Johnson, and his spokesperson also hinted the hero to be awarded a knighthood.
Moreover, Micahel Ball also revealed that he had recorded a charity single with Captain Moore, the title “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The song was released to help in collecting more funds, and it was great assistance as Just Giving fundraiser gathered additionally due to the song Euro 5 million.
The duo also recorded a duet based on the tunes of 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein. Presently, this song has become the anthem for hospital staff and features the NHS Voices of Care Choir.
The song starts with Captain Moore motivating people by saying that we should all keep our head high and not be afraid of the dark.
