Amid the coronavirus outbreak, people are missing going out and eating their favorite dishes.
After McDonald’s, Greggs and Pizza Express, IKEA has shared the recipe for their famous Swedish meatballs so people can enjoy the dish at their home amid lockdown.
You just have to follow six simple steps to make the IKEA’s famous dish that you are missing amid coronavirus lockdown.
Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients for the Meatballs
- 500g beef mince
- 250g pork mince
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 clove of garlic (crushed or minced)
- 100g breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 5 tablespoons of whole milk
- salt and pepper to taste
Ingredients for the cream sauce
- dash of oil
- 40g butter
- 40g plain flour
- 150ml vegetable stock
- 150ml beef stock
- 150ml thick double cream
- teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
How to Make the Meatballs
1 Add chopped onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, and salt and pepper to the beef and pork mince and mix thoroughly.
2. Make small, round balls and place them in the fridge for 2 hours
3. Take a frying pan and heat oil. Fry the meatballs on medium heat until they turn brown.
4. Place the balls in a hot oven (180°C or 160°C fan) and cook for a further 30 minutes.
How to make the cream sauce
5. Add 40g of butter. Whisk in the plain flour and stir for 2 minutes. Add the vegetable stock, beef stock, the thick double cream, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Continue to stir until it becomes thick.
6. Swedish meatballs are ready to eat. Serve them with either creamy mash or mini new boiled potatoes.
Enjoy IKEA’s Swedish meatballs at home until the lockdown is over. The recipe serves four people and can be made in an hour or two.
