A mother-of-three, from Audubon, Pennslyvania, came to know she was pregnant 20 minutes before giving birth.
Karin Fortwangler thought she was tired and bloated when she noticed the signs of pregnancy.
Karin, who has three children – Charlotte, 4, Roger, 2, and Caroline, 1, woke up on 15 March and experienced labor pain.
She told the Metro: “Labour is a pretty distinct feeling so I was fairly certain it had to be either that or some bizarre form of kidney stones.”
“My husband was getting up to get ready for work (at about 5:15am), so I said to him: ‘You’re going to think I’m crazy, because I think I’m crazy, but I think I may be in labour.'”
Karin’s husband Adam took her to the hospital where the doctors confirmed she was pregnant after Karin had an ultrasound.
20 minutes after being told she was pregnant, Karin gave birth to a baby girl.
Baby Katherine was born healthy – weighing 5lb 13oz. She spent two days in the hospital before being discharged.
Karin said she was still breastfeeding her youngest daughter and was unable to have her period.
She thought she’s just tired and bloated as she’s looking after three children and never thought she was pregnant with her fourth child.
Karin and Adam are happy after welcoming their fourth child but they said it’s very hard for them as she is born amid coronavirus outbreak.
Karin said: “We are going a bit stir crazy, but it was surprisingly easy settling into a routine once all of us got over the shock of a new baby and basically the entirety of our lives being canceled!”
The only thing that is troubling the couple is that they will now have to depend on their family and friends for the baby essentials amid lockdown.
