A 39-year-old father has reunited with his family after spending one month in the hospital following his coronavirus diagnosis.
Firefighter Steve Landon spent 23 days in Wrexham Maelor Hospital, in Wales, including 15 days in the intensive care.
Steve finally reunited with his wife Becky and their four children – 14-year-old Caleb, 13-year-old Evie, 11-year-old Abigail, and seven-year-old Seth after being discharged from the hospital.
Heartwarming pictures of Steve cuddling with his four children after being discharged from the hospital have been released.
Despite being discharged from the hospital, Steve still has some health issues as walking and talking leave him breathless and exhausted.
His wife Becky said: “Our superhero came home yesterday afternoon.
It’s amazing to have him back but as a family, it’s hard for us to see how this virus has weakened him.
”“An x-ray shows he has scarring on his lungs. No-one knows the long term damage or prognosis as the virus is so new.”
She said that after getting back home, Steve couldn’t go upstairs and slept on the sofa as he is still weak.
Steve spent 23 days in the hospital, including 15 days in intensive care. He is still not fully recovered and will continue to have physiotherapy sessions.
Becky said he is a fighter and he has fought for his life for almost a month. She said it’s the prayers of the people that have brought him back.
Becky, who works on the hospital’s children’s ward said, said: “He said that one night he had no fight left and he could feel his life slipping away, he truly believes it was the army of people praying and fighting on his behalf that brought him through.”
She said it was a miracle that he recovered and they are grateful to the medical team who saved his life.
Steve also thanked the NHS staff as he shared an emotional video online.
