Although Germany and Spain is slowly lifting the heavy measures to revive life to what they might be, the leaders of the two countries strictly draws the line that it should not imply life as BAU.
Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez has promised a ‘gradual, safe and coordinated’ easing of tensions, while Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel wagged her fingers to the more liberal opinions, with authoritative words of ‘we can’t return to life like it was before coronavirus’. She has also mentioned that some German states were therefore too outgoing in their relenting efforts. We are in for the long haul. We must not lose energy before we reach the end,’ Merkel said, with putting the adage as: ‘It would be a terrible shame if our hope punishes us.’ Germany after some states have reopened non-essential businesses, also began reopening educational institutions this week , although expressly maintaining additional measures in place.
Spain now allows all sorts of workers to go to their workplaces.
And the adults aren’t the only ones enjoying the sunshine, as children who were previously officially grounded by the Spanish government has been allowed to go outside on Sunday for the first time in many months.Mr Sanchez said starting May 10 there will be additional lifting of previous sanctions and restrictions, as the Spanish parliament voted to extend the current lockdown until at least May 9.
Spain currently stands with 4,635 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, a rise in figures since 4,211 reported Wednesday but compared to 9,222 on March 31, a good sign of embetterment. The total raise is from 208,389 to 213,024.
Another 440 people also died of the infection, bringing the total from 4,211 to 4,635.
In Germany, 215 deaths make the previous toll of 4,879 to the current 5,094.
Novel infection numbers stand at 2,352, taking the total infected from 145,964 to 148,046. Although the daily infection rate has somehow flattened, the rate of death is fluctuating with no visible flow.Chancellor Merkel cautioned ‘we’re still walking on thin ice, one could also say the thinnest ice.
We’re not living in the final phase of the pandemic, but still at the beginning. We will be living with this virus for a long time.’
‘Let us not squander what we have achieved and risk a setback.’
