The epidemic has killed thousands of people around the globe disregarding their positions, color, religion, power, or any aspect at all.
Due to coronavirus, a veteran in Florida hospital lost its life and this nurse could not resist herself from paying her tribute.
Manatee Memorial Hospital shared a picture on Monday on its Facebook page. In the picture, Marc Kagan can be seen saluting to a late veteran who lost his life due to the virus. The body of the late veteran was covered under a white sheet.
The moment that was shared on Facebook by the hospital had a special place in Kagan’s heart. Kagan is a veteran himself and it felt like it was his duty to pay tribute to his fellow veteran. So he stood there and saluted the veteran’s body at the end of life.
Kagan is an RN, a retired USAF officer who worked as a Flight Nurse, and a retired Firefighter/Paramedic/ Deputy Sheriff.
He is working as a Cath Lab nurse who is responsible for checking and testing each and every person that goes in or comes out of the COVID- 19 unit.
Kagan said “As the tradition, every veteran gets a military sent off on their death. But when this veteran did not get the same because of coronavirus, my heart was left broken.
I knew I could not do it all alone, but I could at least give him the right tribute and so I did. He did not get the opportunity to be wrapped in the national flag but he could get a salute for his duty for the nation.”
The identity of the late veteran was not revealed.
Since the picture of the nurse was shared on Facebook, he had received tons of appreciation from people. On the same post, several people even shared their heartfelt stories.
