Owing to a tweet from her son, this mother, who was out of work, is now earning by selling miniature picnic table for squirrels.
56-year old Maria Trezza is a playground and lunchroom aid at school located in Bolingbrook, Illinois. However, since all the schools are closed due to the spread of coronavirus, she lost her only source of income.
But creative minds always make things work. And in under a week, this talented lady has sold around 130 squirrel tables to people living in nearby regions. As her popularity grew, Maria has even set up a little storefront at the house.
Dominick Trezza, her 20-year old son, said that he received more than 300 direct messages from people across the globe inquiring about the table. As of now, Trezza is only making the tables for pickups, and her business is going extremely well.
In fact, one customer drove for more than an hour on his bike to buy the miniature tables. The customers said that he saw the tweet of his son, and he was very happy with the table.
Maria revealed that it was entirely a spontaneous idea after she saw her friend’s post of a picnic table that she had bought for her squirrels.
This got Maria thinking that she wanted one and when she asked her friend about the same, she found that they were $20.
Considering that Maria has just lost her job, she did not want to spend on a tiny table. She shared the picture with her Rob, her neighbor, to show how cute the tables were. Two days later, he surprised her with one that he made.
This was his way of saying thank you to her for all the cookies and cakes she used to offer him. She then decorated it with flowers and clothes and posted them on Facebook.
And, after Dominick tweeted about her tables, the demand started to really flow in. From there began her new journey of selling cute picnic tables for squirrels.
