A 57-year-old woman dug herself out of a grave after her drunk neighbors allegedly buried her alive.
Nina Rudchenko from Maryanske Ukraine was allegedly tortured by two men, aged 27 and 30. The two brothers dragged her to a cemetery where she was forced to dig.
As soon as the brothers went away believing she was dead, Ms. Rudchenko did her best to dug herself out and was taken to a hospital with a broken nose, jaw, and concussion.
Her neighbors face up to ten years in jail for attempted murder.
Ms. Rudchenko was home alone when her neighbors broke into her home. They punched and beat up the helpless woman with a baseball bat before torturing her for two hours, according to reports.
The brothers then dragged Ms. Rudchenko’s body to a cemetery and poured water on her face. Then they forced her to dig her own grave.
“I lay in the grave face down and they began to bury me,” she told the local media. “I covered my face with hands trying to reserve some air. They were laughing and talking about plans to kill all my family.
“After they finished, they wondered if I had already died then went away.”
Ms. Rudchenko then dug her way out of the grave and crawled home after the torturers walked away. The next day, her sister Ludmila Gura found her unconscious and took her to a local hospital.
“Nina’s face was covered with bruises and blood. It was black and swollen. I barely could recognise her,” Mrs. Gura shared.
Police launched a criminal case against the two brothers for attempted murder.
Spokesperson Evgen Slipchenko said: “The suspects might be also accused of kidnapping. We are now looking into the circumstances.”
