A 32-year-old mother, from Melbourne, Australia, has revealed she delivered her own baby on the bathroom floor after going into labor at 34 weeks.
Sandra Rhodes was 34 weeks pregnant when she went into labor. She called her husband, Jack but she had no time to get to the hospital.
She delivered the baby on her bathroom floor herself as the labor lasted for just two minutes.
Sandra was told there was no sign of early labor when she went for a test a week before giving birth.
Since her other two children arrived before the due date, she was sure the third one would also be arriving soon.
On the last day of work before her maternity leave, Sandra started having severe pain while driving home.
She immediately called her husband and asked him to pick up their kids.
When she arrived at her home, the pain became worse and she again called her husband who called an ambulance.
Meanwhile, she delivered the baby on the bathroom floor.
Sandra said: “I focused on my breathing, knowing it wouldn’t be long before I was taken to the hospital. But as I gritted my teeth through another contraction, I suddenly felt the head against my cervix.”
“Two minutes later, I felt another strong contraction. I pushed, holding the baby’s head and body between my legs, and then suddenly, he was out.”
Sandra said her husband was left shocked when he came home and saw her with the baby.
Sandra gave birth to a boy who weighed just over two kilos. He spent four weeks in the hospital as he was born prematurely before being discharged.
Sandra said: “I still can’t believe I delivered my own baby on the bathroom floor. He really is our two-minute miracle.”
