As the Chinese city of Shanghai prepares to lower its emergency level, tickets for Disneyland located in the city were sold out within minutes of being put on sale.
Shanghai Disneyland had remained closed since earlier this year to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Disney said that they will take many safety precautions to ensure the safety of all their guests and staff. They will limit guest numbers and arrange them to queue while remaining a safe distance between them. Everyone must be checked for their temperature, and will have to wear masks.
Moreover, all guests will be asked to show the staff their personal QR codes. The Chinese have given every citizen a QR code that extrapolates one’s risk of catching the coronavirus. Based on an individual’s medical records and whereabouts, you either get a green or red status. Green indicates lower risk while red indicated higher risk.
Other staples of the amusement park, such as photo ops with Disney characters, will also be banned for the safety of both the guests and staffs.
Despite all these restrictions, the entry tickets for next Monday were sold out within minutes. Soon after, tickets for the rest of the week were also fully sold. Shanghai Daily reported that there have been no new local cases of the virus in Shanghai for nearly two months.
