A British teenager named Riley Ferguson is dubbed as a hero after he saves a 15-month-old toddler named Reggie.

The incident took place at Knottingley, West Yorkshire. When Riley was walking his dog, he spotted the toddler playing with grass nearby a canal.

After some time, the toddler accidentally fell into the canal which was filled with water, but Riley was there to save him. The 15-year-old teen told BBC that once the toddler fell inside the canal, he could see his legs sinking, for which he acted immediately.

On the other end, the neighbors nearby did hear the boy scream for help and they immediately showed up to pull both the teen and the toddler out from the canal.

The toddler, who is known as Reggie was pretty shocked by the whole situation, but he was not wounded or injured. One neighbor named Trevor Dann said that the little toddler would’ve met his end if Riley was not there in the scene.

Becca Hampton, the mother of the toddler, said he was playing in the garden outside their residence when he wandered far away from home.

The mother was thankful and also praised the teenager for his heroic deed and said presents and money will not be enough to show how grateful she is towards Riley for saving her child.

Michael and Amy Ferguson, who are Riley’s parents, told BBC that they are extremely proud of their son. Both the local councilor and the mayor of Wakefield have recognized Riley Ferguson as a hero.

Everyone praised and appreciate Riley for what he did and on the other hand, Riley just answered by saying it was something anybody or anyone could’ve done.

The GoFundMe page raised over $1500 in his name, but the teenager told BBC that he wanted all the fortune that was raised in his honor should be given to the National Health Service of UK.
