A mother from Australia has issued a warning after her six-month-old daughter nearly choked on a soft toy rattle.
Jessica Stewart took to Facebook to warn parents of the soft toy that nearly killed her six-month-old daughter, Malia.
Jessica shared the “scariest” moment of her life on the Facebook group New Mums Australia.
She told that she was washing up in the kitchen and her six-month-old daughter Malia was playing in her high chair with a soft toy rattle in the same room.
Jessica was busy doing her work but when she heard a strange noise, she turned and saw her daughter choking on the soft toy rattle.
She wrote on Facebook: “Her face was red, her eyes were popping out of her head. I snatched it off her threw it on the floor and picked her up.”
“She vomited all over me straight away and was completely fine. I was bawling my eyes out as it was the scariest thing I have ever seen”, she added.
After the horrible experience, Jessica warned parents of the soft toy and urged them to be attentive when they are with their babies and not to leave their children alone.
She said she was glad her daughter was in the same room otherwise this could have a tragic ending.
Jessica never thought her daughter could choke on a soft toy but when she saw her daughter with the whole end in her mouth, she was left stunned.
Later, she told Kidspot: “She managed to shove the whole end in her mouth (end without the face) and it got stuck.”
“She still had a hold of it but obviously didn’t work out how to pull it out or how to breathe through her nose. I’m so glad she was in the kitchen with me and not in the next room on her play mat”, she added.
Jessica says it was pure luck that she was in the same room with her daughter and could save her life in time.
She says this can happen to anyone and this is the reason she shared her story to warn parents so they can avoid such horrible incidents.
