A great-great-grandmother recently celebrated her 105th birthday and shared her secrets to a long life with the rest of us who hope to become centenarians one day.
Beatrice Turner, 105, is an inspirational and hardworking lady who lived through the Spanish Flu and both world wars.
As the senior, who is now staying at Perth’s SwanCare Waminda care home, revealed in an interview with Daily Mail Australia, she has “always worked” even though “in those early days you worked and didn’t have much money.”
Celebrating her birthday with a juicy burger and a glass of red wine, the centenarian also revealed she had never smoked and didn’t drink alcohol until reaching her 50s.
According to The Daily Mail, Turner was born in the Australian town of Northam where she got married and started her own family.
After the woman’s husband came back from fighting in World War 2, the couple moved to Perth together with their three children.
As the centenarian added, The Depression of Australia did well for her personal development by making her grateful for the “precious little” that they had.
“We got through and I think it’s only done us a lot of good,” she said. “It makes you appreciate what you’ve got.”
Speaking of the inspirational resident, Pauline Bremner, the manager of the care home where Turner is staying, expressed:
“Bea is an incredibly thoughtful person, she is always interested in others and will often ask me about my own family… She’s an inspiration and we feel honored to have Bea here at Waminda.”
Nowadays, the grandmother remains the Anagram Word Challenge Competition champion thanks to her mind still being sharp despite her age.
“My legs are a bit wobbly, but my mind is still sharp,” the 105-year-old said.
