Five children have been left orphaned after their dad passed away from coronavirus six years after their mother died from cancer.
Originally from the Philippines but a resident in Ireland, Miguel Plangca passed away after a long battle against coronavirus in the intensive care unit.
His children, Chekie, Michael, John, Mikee, and Stephanie, have been tragically orphaned six years after losing their mother, Gilceria, to cancer.
People reading their heartbreaking story have so far raised $15,000 in only four days to support the children, who are now being cared for by their aunt.
For almost 20 years, Plangca worked on the packaging line at the Bird’s Eye factory in Naas and would send money to his family in˙the Philippines.
Plangca’s daughter, Mikee, took to Facebook and shared a tear-jerking post: “You fought a good fight papa. Thank you for everything. We will miss you. We love you!”
Mikee also thanked those who raise money to support them. “The love and support that we’ve been receiving is unbelievable. THANK YOU to the 2 person who helped us set up the GoFundMe page and for the continuous support from everyone. God bless us all.”
One of the well-wishers commented on Mikee’s post and told them to ‘stay wrong.’
Bherdelle JP Saturinas-Conol wrote: “Stay strong Ate Mikee Plangca. You are now the strength of your siblings, know that you’re not alone, we’re here for you.”
The Philippine Consulate in Dublin also paid tribute to the father-of-five. “Miguel was a quiet but very giving man who was well loved and will be deeply missed.”
One internet user commented: “This so tragic. Hope the children stay strong to overcome this grief.”
Another wrote: “Heartbreaking! I hope they’re cared for and can be kept together with a family. RIP Dad and God bless those children.”
