Monkeys in India surprised the entire world after they were photographed following social distancing rules amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite being famous for stealing, snatching, and many acts of destruction, the cheeky monkeys practice social distancing as they enjoy their delicious meal in Arunachal Pradesh.
Local MP Kiren Rijiju, also India’s Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, shared a photo of the primates waiting for a slice of watermelon as the monkeys practice social distancing.
Mr. Rijiju wrote: “A perfect #SocialDistancing seen near Bhalukpong in Arunachal Pradesh along Assam-Arunachal boundary. If we observe carefully, animals can teach us many vital lessons that we may have missed in the haste of our normal daily lives.”
These monkeys are famous for being playful, stealing, and kidnapping. Just last week, an Indian health worker was attacked by monkeys who grabbed coronavirus blood samples.
The sample boxes were later retrieved and hadn’t been damaged, Meerut Medical college superintendent Dheeraj Raj confirmed to AFP after a video of the incident was shared online.
“They were still intact and we don’t think there is any risk of contamination or spread,” Raj told AFP, adding that the three patients whose samples were stolen were tested again for coronavirus.
India’s Covid-19 death toll recently surpassed China’s number of fatalities, with 277,985 deaths as of June 3, while China has 83,022.
Schools and subways in India remain closed as experts said the country is still far from reaching the peak of coronavirus outbreak.
However, it eased restrictions on public transport and stores to help millions of laborers who are unable to buy food for their families.
