Families and friends usually eat together, reminisce and exchange presents during Christmas Eve.
But for one family in Cullman, Alabama, their night turned into a tragedy and a time of grieving.
22-year-old Logan Trammel had a passion for country music. He was a songwriter and singer with big dreams of moving to Nashville, Tennessee. He wanted to become a country music star so he could share his gift with other people.
However, those dreams were cut short in a tragic way.
Logan TrammellAround 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, Trammel got into one of his dad’s vehicles and started driving away. His father was out at the time, recording some music next to his shop. When he saw the truck moving, he was certain that a thief was trying to steal it.
Trammel’s dad fired a warning shot in the air to get the thief’s attention, but the vehicle sped up. He fired again at the tailgate and the truck finally stopped.
Logan TrammellThe father approached the vehicle to see who the thief was. As he went closer to the truck, he realized that the person who was driving was his son.
“And he said, ‘I walked up there, you know, hollering, ‘get out,’ I didn’t know who was in my truck’, and still never realized that it was Logan, until he got the door open, and he realized who it was,” Tammy Jacobs shared.
“It was just a horrific accident. A horrific accident,” Jacobs expressed as she cried. “My brother thought someone was stealing his truck, never realized it was Logan because he didn’t live down here all the time, he lived with my mom and dad.”
According to Jacobs, Trammell had never taken one of this father’s vehicles before. That was also around the time he usually slept. Those were the factors that made Trammel’s dad believe it was a thief.
However, it was too late when he found out that the driver was his son. Trammell lost his life along with his dreams to be a country music star. He will always be in his family’s hearts.
Trammell’s family is thankful for prayers they received from others. Christmas Eves will always remind them of this unfortunate event. They are still glad that they have his music to remember him.
