Katherine ‘Kitty’ Neeson, the mother of the popular Northern Ireland-born actor Liam Neeson, died on Saturday, just one day before the ‘Taken’ actor’s 68th birthday.
The news of Kitty’s death, who was in her 90s, was shared by the All Saints Church from the senior’s hometown of Ballymena, Northern Ireland.
According to the reports, the announcement was broadcasted on social media due to restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
Paying a tribute to the elderly lady were the parish priest and the mayor along with thousands of Liam Neeson’s fans from around the world.
“Very sorry to hear this news. As Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, I will be raising this at full council on Tuesday where we will be holding a minute’s silence. Rest in Peace, Kitty,” Mayor Peter Johnston said according to a Ballymena Daily report.
“We pray for those that died recently… and Kitty Neeson. Her funeral arrangements will be later,” parish priest, Father Paddy Delargy, expressed during a mass.
Kitty’s death came just one day before her son Liam’s 68th birthday.
Previously, in 2009, the popular Irish, British, and American actor had to face the passing of his wife Natasha Richardson who died at the age of 45 following a skiing accident.
After the doctors informed the actress’s family that there was no hope left, the relatives decided to turn off her life support.
