On the popular TV show The Profit, self-made millionaire Marcus Lemonis invests his own money in making small businesses more competitive.
Lemonis believes in fairness and good will. He knows that when his employees feel that they are treated impartially and kindly, they will care more about their jobs and it will result in better productivity.
The International Labor Organization (ILO) reports that the United States is one of the least paid countries when it comes to maternity leave among developed countries. And according to Chatterji and Markowitz, “women who had fewer than 12 weeks of maternity leave and fewer than eight weeks of paid leave were more likely to have more symptoms of depression.”

Keeping in mind that maternity leave is so important for the family, Lemonis met Tami Forbes, a store manager at Key West Lime Pie Company.
Forbes was preparing to take maternity leave but she was having a hard time to come to a compromising point for herself and her family. She takes care of everything from inventory to marketing, but she was only paid $300 a week.
As she has 8-year-old twins and was pregnant with her third child, she had to work for another job to afford the family.[rsnippet id=”5″ name=”DFP/34009881/Article_2″]
That’s when Lemonis comes in; he says in the video below, “I’m gonna need your help before you leave. I gotta get some stuff done and you’re gonna be our leader here. In order for you to have a good piece of mind, I wanted to give you some money.”
Lemonis gave a splendid offer to Forbes, and made her cry.
“It means everything, knowing that I have a salary when I come back — a salary that I can live on, and still save money… I’ve never had that,” she says.
Lemonis made a mother happy, and it is obvious that her family is happy. Happy mother, Happy family.
