The behind story behind the viral video on Twitter has finally gotten official confirmation from the local police authorities, but with conflicting statements coming in from the parties involved (or rather, silence from the assaulter), Macy’s has officially defended the white man in the video.
The video in question shows a black man brutally beating a white man for calling him the n-word at a Macy’s branch at the Genesee Valley Center in Flint, Michigan. The white man was in Macy’s employee uniform. The major shopping franchise has officially called the employee in question attacked while it was ‘unprovoked’, and uncalled for. The black men who filmed the scene and did the deed has fled the scene and is being asked for search by the legal authorities.
The video was shared by the local rapper FT Quay who claimed that he and his companion in camaraderie went to the mall and got a man to answer them about the size of the shirt.
The rapper then went on to say that the employee answered and went back to his phone call, allegedly whispering to the person at the other at the end of the line that it had been ‘no one just some n****r.’ His post justified the consequential assault as having been a response to an apparent racial slur.
However, the video clip does not show the employee actually saying the words. The rapper’s accusation post has been taken down as of Friday, while Macy’s have given out their official statement: ‘We are deeply saddened about the incident that took place on Monday (June 15) at Macy’s Genesee Valley as the safety of Macy’s customers and colleagues is our top priority,’ Andrea Schwartz, senior director of media relations for Macy’s, said in an interview that ‘in the workplace of any kind is unacceptable.
All the materials from the evening have been reviewed and it is clear that the attack was unprovoked.
We are working closely with local authorities on this investigation, and will defer any further comments about the case to them per policy.’
The police is now searching for these men who was propagating their work: ‘We are looking for them as we speak,’ township police Lt.
Brad Wangler said ‘It’s not something that’s been put on the back burner.
We want to find out what happened. Officers learned an employee of the store was assaulted by a young black male who fled the scene with a second individual after the assault,’ they said in a statement Friday.Store surveillance video confirmed the assault against the employee.
