As socialites and a huge presence in popular culture, both Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein were gourmets in taste, frequenting the delis and restaurants in high regard around New York.
Now the former having killed himself before and the latter in a humiliating court trial process with possibly more charges piling up on him to create a visage for a lifetime behind bars, they will never roam the streets and societal gatherings in New York. One restaurant owner, Zach Erdem, who owns the 75 Main in Southampton, has made his sentiments to his former guests of preference loud and clear on his social media account, garnering media interest to his causes and the motif behind his radical move. The “move” was to publicly burn their fixed tables at his restaurant, with the entourage of restaurant staff cheering him on in the onset of the destruction of the said table
Epstein, for a reminder, has been previously accused with multiple counts under his belt on the charges of sexually abusing underage girls.
Apparently afraid to face his fate, with lots of conspiracy theories springing therein, he was found unconscious in the New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center in August of 2019. He died by suicide, according to official statements from the city officials.
Weinstein, a former Hollywood producer, has already been sentenced 23 years in prison with the charges of committing a criminal sex act in the first degree involving one woman and rape in the third degree involving another, following multiple lawsuits from celebrities and staffs in show biz from Hollywood.
When visiting 75 Main, the two used to dine at Table 1, according to Erdem. “When I thought about it, like Jeffrey Epstein used to sit at this table, all I could think was I need to burn this f—— table and make sure nothing is going to stain my restaurant,” Erdem, 39, said in a media interview.
“I got my hammer and my fuel and I broke it, burned it, and threw it in the garbage. It felt so good actually. Now I don’t have to think about these guys anymore.”
Erdem — surrounded by local residents and waitstaff — said he broke the table using an ax and a sledgehammer before dousing it in lighter fluid and lighting it on fire as people cheered and chanted “Burn, Epstein, burn!” Along with “getting rid of their bad energy,” Erdem said he did it to send a clear message to everyone who plans to visit 75 Main: “People who abuse women are not welcome here.
”
