A woman was left ‘vomiting for 12 hours’ after she allegedly found a dead mouse in a chicken tray bake she purchased from Tesco.
Cath McCall Smith said she felt sick after discovering the lifeless rodent in the ready meal.
The shopper said she first thought she had hit a bit of bone. However, she was left horrified after realizing it was actually a mouse.
“I thought I had hit a bit of bone,” McCall Smith shared. “I moved the chicken around and was horrified when I saw it. I’ve been sick for 12 hours. I’m still a bit unwell.”
An investigation is currently being carried out, Tesco said.
Ms. McCall Smith shared shocking photos of the rodent on Tesco’s Facebook page along with the caption: “Please do not buy any ready meals from Tesco. What I found in mine has had me vomiting for 12 hours.”
She added: “A mouse in my ready meal.”
Social media users are quick to make jokes about the photos. One person commented: “Just tripled the meat quantity…”
Another wrote: “Well it does say ‘Italian Inspired’ and the Romans considered dormouse to be a delicacy.”
A third said: “Makes you wonder who cooks those pre packed meals and what sort of quality control is in place. How disgusting is that. Best to prepare your own meals rather than risk being poisoned by a filthy outsourced kitchen.”
Someone else said: “It had a dead chicken in there as well! She’ll be fine.”
Tesco said they are investigating the incident. A spokesperson for the retailer said: “We take all customer complaints very seriously and are carrying out a full investigation into what happened here.”
