While every adoption has a different story behind it, the process is never easy.
Once a mother sees and holds her child in her arms for the first time, a special bond forms, and breaking that bond is painful. There are, however, various reasons why someone might give up their child for adoption. Some people are not ready to have a child, some can’t vouch for their well-being, and others simply want them to have a better life.
Hannah Mongie was 18 years old when she discovered she was pregnant. Together with Kaden, her son’s father, they were looking forward to raising a child together. One day, Kaden was on a mission and couldn’t attend Hannah’s checkup, so she decided to text him their son’s heartbeat. As she reported, he was overjoyed.

Two days later, however, things took an unexpected twist, and Kaden died in his sleep. For Mongie, the burden of losing her partner was more than she could handle which is why she decided to put up her baby for adoption.

“I hope anyone who watches this will be able to gain a new perspective on what the birth mom goes through when she places her child for adoption. It is the farthest thing from a heartless act. It shows the definition of love. To love someone this much is to give away your happiness for them,” Hannah wrote in the description of her video.
After the decision was made and once her son, Taggart, was born, Mongie decided to record a video for him. In the film, she explained what led her to this decision and told him how much she loves him.
On his first birthday, Mongie reflected on her life and choices that she made. “If I could go back and live these three days of agony all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat. Happiest first birthday to the love of my love, my sweet Taggart Kaden Marsh. You will always be my first true love,” she said.

Luckily, Hannah’s relation with Tagg didn’t end with adoption. Emily and Brad Marsh, Tagg’s adoptive parents, live merely 10 minutes away from Hannah. She is now allowed to visit her birth son at least once per month. As she and Emily became good friends, they also attend each other’s family parties and birthdays.

Fortunately for everyone, this story turned out to be a success and Hannah will probably have a lot of explaining to do when Tagg grows up.
