It is not entirely rare to observe people growing their hairs out long enough to donate to good causes.
However, it is indeed much more special when the feat is accomplished by a 9-year-old boy. Reilly Stancombe from Essex, England grew his hair long so long that it outruns more than 2ft in length. The cut was his first. The indefinite wait was done so that his hair could help children suffering from childhood cancer, losing their hair as a result.
The lad did admit that after several years of letting it grow, his hair was ‘a bit too long and it was about time we had it cut.
’ He added: ‘I wanted to give it away to the people that had cancer and I saw lots of kids fighting cancer who didn’t have any hair.
’ A commentator on social media wrote: ‘Lovely job Reilly Stancombe! Well done’‘I was scared, I have to admit,’ he did mention.
Reilly’s mother, Daisy Canny, 30, revealed that he had lengthy hair from a young age.‘He sort of had it shoulder length growing up as a toddler and as he got I older he was inspired by football and he grew it and grew it and grew it and it ended up the two-foot of hair he had,’ Daisy said.
His iconic first lifetime haircut was carried out at Masters & Misters barbers in Clacton-on-Sea on Tuesday.
On his new hairdo, Reillysaid: ‘I love it.
’ He got about 10 times more donation than originally planned, garnering £3,300 on his GoFundMe page by this week. ‘I really hope this will make a lot of people happy,’ said Reilly, adding that he hoped children ‘won’t feel like they’re different any more’ once they have a wig.Reilly also expressed his very own sentiments on holding his lengthy hairlock for a cause.
‘I was looking at it like ‘What?’,’ he said. ‘I didn’t think it was actually that long, then when I looked at it, it was massive.‘It felt weird to see it not in my hair, and to be in my hand.
’ Reilly who is donating his hair to the Little Princess Trust to be made into wigs, was inspired after seeing children who’ve lost their hair to cancer. If you liked this article, please LIKE SHARE AND COMMENT below! And don’t forget to check our other articles along the way!
