Just days after claiming that the Chinese government has created the Covid-19 virus in a lab setting, Dr.
Li Meng Yan’s Twitter account has been suspended by the company. Adding mystery to the suspension was Twitter’s refusal to disclose the reasons or even discuss the matter.
Dr. Yan, who used to be a researcher at the prestigious Hong Kong School of Public Health claimed that the Chinese government had artificially created the novel coronavirus and that she had the evidence to prove this claim.
She made an impression with Americans when she appeared on various shows, most notably in an interview she had with Tucker Carlson on Tuesday. During the interview, Yan said that the Chinese Communist Party is hellbent on concealing the truth, and is trying to silence her.
By this time, Yan’s Twitter account had already been suspended. She blamed the unexplained suspension on the Chinese government, claiming that they want her to be gone no matter how. Carlson played along to her claims, adding how he finds the lack of coverage to be strange.
The controversial findings that Yan shared was uploaded to an open platform on Monday.
Although it has been co-authored with two other experts, it has not gone through the usual rigorous process with which these academic writings must go through.
Why Yan’s work was not picked up by major scientific journals remain a mystery. While many argue that this is because Yan’s findings have long been debunked by foreign experts, others claimed it is because China has already reached out to and stopped the publications.
Regardless of the reasons, Yan’s paper was not submitted and published in an academic manner. In the paper, Yan claims that there is evidence that the DNA structure of the virus was artificially modified, adding how it could easily be manufactured within 6 months.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that this rumor has been circulated. From researchers in India to conspiracy theorists in the US, many around the globe probed the possibility that Covid-19 was China launching an global bio attack of some sorts.
