‘My 600-lb Life’ star Coliesa McMillian passed away at the age of 41 after having complications from her weight loss surgery.
McMillian from Louisiana tragically died six months after her episode of the show aired. Her heartbroken family shared the devastating news on Facebook.
During the filming, the mother-of-four weighed 643lbs and had already suffered a heart attack. Doctors could no longer correct the severe damage done to her heart as her weight made it impossible to operate.
McMillian’s grieving family revealed that she had died on Monday in a Facebook post.
“I cannot begin to express into words what our family is beginning to feel,” they wrote. “Tonight at 10:23 she sadly passed away from this life. We are asking that you please respect us. Thank you.”
Another family member wrote in the comments section: “She had health problems from her surgery and it just ended her life.”
McMillian’s family said in June that she had been put on life support and ‘almost died’ following complications from her weight loss surgery.
Her family wrote at that time that it would be ‘a very long and difficult road ahead’ but they also shared their happiness when she finally returned home.
“She stayed in Houston for a few weeks,” they wrote. “Even though she has been on a long journey she has an even longer journey to go. She is a fighter. She is now confined to a bed 24/7. And is in a lot of pain. She can not do anything like she used to. But she is there.”
But in August, the family revealed that the mother-of-four’s health deteriorated and she was back in hospital.
McMillian’s daughter shared a tribute to her on social media, including sweet words about her fiancé, who passed away in a car accident before she filmed the show.
“Now y’all together. These two my guardian angels. Imma miss you mom I already do!” she wrote.
