China’s President Xi Jinping wished US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump a quick recovery after they tested positive for the coronavirus.
President Trump was airlifted to Walter Reed medical center where he will stay for a few days while Melania will remain quarantined in the White House.
According to Chinese state TV, President X Jinping said: “My wife, Peng Liyuan, and I express our sympathies to you and your wife and wish you a fast recovery.”
His message comes after Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Global Times, said President Trump and Melania ‘have paid the price for his gamble to play down the COVID-19.’
“The news shows the severity of the US’ pandemic situation,” Mr. Xijin wrote.
Trump’s doctor said that he is ‘doing well’ as he recovers in Walter Reed hospital. He is also taking vitamin D, zinc, famotidine, daily aspirin, melatonin, and remdesivir, an Ebola drug that has been shown to work against coronavirus.
Trump tweeted “Going well, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!” after an unnamed presidential adviser claimed that ‘This is serious’ and the President was ‘very tired, very fatigued.’
The source also told CNN that Trump’s condition was more severe than Melania’s.
They confirmed that the President is ‘fatigued’ but his health is not deteriorating.
Eric Trump also took to Twitter to ask Americans to pray for his father’s recovery.
“@RealDonaldTrump is a true warrior,” he wrote. “He will fight through this with the same strength and conviction that he uses to fight for America each and every day. I ask you to join me in praying for his recovery. I have never been more proud of someone and what they had to endure.
”
Ivanka Trump also tweeted: “You are a warrior and will beat this. I love you dad.”
