Jeffrey Toobin, 60, announced on Twitter that he has been fired from the New Yorker.
The CNN’s chief legal analyst has been given the boot from the magazine after he was caught masturbating on a work Zoom call.
A New Yorker spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail that they had cut ties with the writer after weeks of investigation into the incident.
“As a result of our investigation, Jeffrey Toobin is no longer affiliated with the company,” the spokesperson said.
Conde Nast, the New Yorker’s parent company, made the announcement Wednesday saying in a memo that it wakes ‘workplace matters seriously.’
The memo from the Chief People Officer Stan Duncan reads: “I am writing to share with you that our investigation regarding Jeffrey Toobin is complete, and as a result, he is no longer affiliated with our company.
“I want to assure everyone that we take workplace matters seriously. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels respected and upholds our standards of conduct.”
The journalist, who is also a chief legal analyst of CNN, was placed on leave from the outlet.
Toobin took to Twitter and wrote: “I was fired today by @NewYorker after 27 years as a Staff Writer.
“I will always love the magazine, will miss my colleagues, and will look forward to reading their work.”
One person commented: “This was a violation of every companies code of ethics or policies. The typical American worker would have been terminated within 24 hours. The fact CNN has not speaks volumes.”
Another wrote: “I would imagine most people would have been fired immediately, for doing what you did.”
A third added: “Nobody should have a job after what you did.”
