John Boyega has welcomed the idea of becoming the next James Bond star.
While rumors have recently been suggesting that Tom Hardy will be replacing Daniel Craig as the MI6 intelligence officer in the next James Bond movie, candidates for the iconic role have started piling up.
Presented among possible replacements in the James Bond franchise are dozens of renowned stars including Idris Elba, James Norton, Tom Hardy, Sam Heughan, Lashana Lynch, and now also John Boyega.
Two years after admitting he’s “a bit too young” to take over the role of James Bond in an interview with Be, the Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise Of Skywalker star appeared to have changed his mind.
The news follows after the 28-year-old actor’s Black Panther co-star Letitia Wright suggested Boyega would be a better match for the role than 31-year-old candidate Daniel Kaluuya.
“I say Boyega because I know he would love it,” 27-year-old Wright said as she was asked about who of the two candidates would make a better James Bond.
“Daniel would do the work and stay behind – he likes to stay low key, so that’s too much [for him]. He can still play Bond too, but I know John Boyega would just… yeah.”
Seemingly motivated by his co-star’s comments, Boyega now confirmed he’s interested in starring in the popular franchise.
“Ooh! Hey, listen. [With] Steve McQueen directing? Let’s do this,” the 28-year-old said in an interview as he was asked about Wright’s comments.
“We can show them something different – we [would] still bring that sophistication – James Bond has to be James Bond – but we could do something with that.”
