Police officers, firefighters, and soldiers are just few groups of people who are willing to throw their lives on the line to save others.
Police officer Lesley Zerebny is one of them.
When she got a call for a domestic dispute, Officer Zerebny did not hesitate to respond to the call and check what was going on. Tragically, she was shot and killed in the line of duty.
Officer Zerebny was just 27 years old when this happened, and it had only been few days since she returned from maternity leave.
Now, her husband, Zachary Zerebny, will have to raise their 4-month-old daughter on his own.
However, in such times of trouble, people rise up to help out the others.

Even though officer Zerebny will not be able to take care of her own baby, Cora, others started something unthinkable to help out this family. And it all started with the social media.
After the tragic incident, one of the family members posted about the event and asked for prayers. Then, one woman in the local area who read the news asked if donated breast milk could help. Soon, others were donating breast milk as well.

More than 500 ounces of breast milk were donated for Cora in less than two days.
KTVU newscaster Claudine Wong also shared a photo of a friend that she had received, which were large coolers packed with the bags of breast milk.
“It’s amazing what people do when they found out there is a need and find out that they can help,” wrote Wong on Facebook.
The donated milk will be given to Cora after being tested and screened, but the family estimates that the milk will be enough to feed her for more than a month.

Now, the family announced that they won’t be accepting breast milk donations for Cora.
Instead, they asked willing mothers to donate to local milk banks in Zerebny’s name.
A gofundme page has also been set up for the surviving family members of Zerebny.
It really is amazing what mothers can do.
