A job advertisement for a nanny has gone viral for all the wrong reasons as users slammed the ‘ridiculous’ list of requirements the posting came with.
The job listing went viral after it was shared on Reddit where eagle-eyed users quickly pointed out how the ‘nanny’ that the parents were looking for was also supposed to serve as their teacher, shopper, chef, house cleaner, and errand-runner – all for $13 per hour.
While the advertisement started off in a relatively normal tone, demands quickly spiraled out of control as parents suggested the nanny should look after their children, aged 8 and 13, on specific weekday shifts and holidays.
The nanny should also work from 11 am to 7 pm on weekends and should be ready to work on-call.
Besides being tasked with looking after the children and preparing them for school, the nanny should also drive the kids to school, do laundry, cook, clean the house, buy groceries, do personal shopping for the family, and run various errands such as going to the bank and pharmacy.
To make matters worse, the nanny is required to have a bachelor’s degree and be “75%” willing to travel. The applicant should also have two years of experience working as a live-in nanny and should be between 25 and 30 years old.
The job listing was eventually posted on Reddit where people slammed it as “ridiculous” as they suggested the parents are looking for a cheap way out of their responsibilities.
“Basically, be a mother to my children as it turned out I cannot be a**ed with that myself. And cook and clean for me too,” one person wrote.
“Translation: We couldn’t be bothered to take care of our children, so you can take over,” another one suggested.
One Redditer said: “These people aren’t hiring a babysitter, they’re hiring a surrogate parent.”
