A bride has been facing backlash after taking to Facebook to complain about her best friend’s cheap wedding gift.
As the unnamed Aussie woman revealed in her Facebook post for a group called Brisbane Weddings – Buy/Swap/Sell/Chat, she held an “exclusive” wedding focused on the guests and their well-being.
However, the woman was left upset after realizing that her best friend and her family gifted her two towels with “a total value of about $10.”
“Hey everyone, has anyone received any wedding gifts in the past that were a slap in the face?” the bride wrote in her social media post.
“How did you deal with it? My partner and I had a very exclusive wedding, all inclusive and the focus were our guests.
“Our best friend, husband and kids know this and they gifted us 2 Kmart towels, a total value of about $10. This hurt us a lot, as it was a slap in the face… we don’t know how to deal with it… any suggestions?”
As news.com.au reported, the woman was met with a backlash rather than sympathy that she obviously expected after her complaint went viral.
“Maybe its all they can afford? Be thankful they wanted to be there to celebrate your special day and focus on the qualities in their personalities rather than the material items they may or may not have given you,” one person replied.
“Are you serious? It’s not about what you get out of it,” another one pointed out.
Soon enough, the story also appeared on Reddit where users accused the bride of being ungrateful and spoiled.
“Kmart towels are an awesome gift. Who cares how much they cost. What a shallow person,” someone suggested.
“Yeah, say thanks then shut the f*** up! Ungrateful cow,” another one added.
