Whether it’s medical, financial, or familial issues, we all find ourselves in desperate situations at some point in our lives.
That’s when it is good to have someone around to help us get over the problems and support us in standing on our own feet.
For Amy Rickel, a mother of three, everything during December 2016 was going wrong. Instead of experiencing the Christmas joy, the family moved to Green Bay with the desire of staying closer to their dad and husband, and since then things have only worsened.

Amy was left jobless, homeless, and with a broken car. The family ended up stranded in a dodgy motel without the means of paying for the room. As anyone would be, Amy was cornered and afraid for the safety and the future of her kids. That’s when she wrote a Facebook message to a stranger who she thought was her friend because of a similar last name.

The stranger’s name is Brian Van Boxtel, and Amy asked him to provide her with some Bible verses that could help her go through those tough times.

After realizing her mistake, Amy quickly apologized for texting the wrong person. Brian, however, refused to ignore her plea and decided to send over multiple verses to lift her spirit. “He was like, ‘Nope! God puts us in people’s lives for a reason,'” Amy told WPXI News.

The mother was happy to receive such kind words, but Brian’s generosity didn’t end there. Within minutes, he appeared at the motel where the family was staying. He paid for their room and took a tremendous load off of Amy’s shoulders.

As if that wasn’t enough, Brian also encouraged Amy to start a GoFundMe campaign.
Soon enough, donations started flowing in and reached nearly $5,000 up to this date.
People have also offered their help in other ways. Some offered a place to stay at, while one woman, Kathy Schumann, let the family use their minivan. Another hero, Chad Morack, worked untiringly to help Amy score a position as a practical nurse, which was something that she spent years training.Fortunately, his endeavors were successful, and Amy got a full-time job.
We never know when we might end up in the same situation as Amy or other desperate people who are in need of help. Therefore, let’s be generous and selflessly support those who need a helping hand. Please SHARE this post to inspire others to commit acts of kindness!
