The Golden Girls star Betty White just turned 99 and celebrities were quick to pay tribute to the beloved actress.
“Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!” Betty told The Associated Press.
Her simple plans for her big day include feeding a pair of ducks that visit her home in Los Angeles regularly.
Despite the pandemic, the legendary star needs a proper party.
“You probably didn’t ask, but I’ll tell you anyway,” White said. “What am I doing for my birthday? Running a mile each morning has been curtailed by COVID, so I am working on getting ‘The Pet Set’ re-released, and feeding the two ducks who come to visit me every day.”
Her 1970s show ‘The Pet Set’ will be released on streaming platforms and DVD on February 23, commemorating its 50th anniversary.
Sabrina The Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart took to Instagram and shared a line from Betty: “’The older you get the better you get. Unless you’re a banana.’ – Rose in Golden Girls. Happy 99th Birthday to the legend @bettymwhite! The greatest thing since before sliced bread!”
English broadcaster Piers Morgan also paid tribute to the legendary star, writing: “Happy 99th Birthday to the fabulous @BettyMWhite – a proper star, on & off screen.”
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Mulan (1998) star Ming-Na Wen also wrote: “Why do people say, ‘Grow some balls?’ Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding! – Betty White.
“She is my spirit animal. Happy 99th birthday, QUEEN!!”
Louis Virtel, a podcaster, comedian, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! writer, compared the birthday celebrant to other entertainment greats.
“What do Judy Garland, Veronica Lake, and Jack Kerouac have in common? All born in 1922 just like Betty White, who turns 99 today. Happy 99th, Betty White.”
